Tiger eye beads

Do  you remember this necklace that I made with the tiger eye beads that BJ sent me?

It took ages to do with some thread that I bought whilst at the Lace Fair two years ago.  It was called CLon thread or something like that.  I thought it was the thread that Teri Dusenbury used but in the end I've decided it was nothing like that.  Anyway, the result of all that effort of making the necklace was that I wore it once.

The reason?  I was disappointed in the colour of the thread I'd used and the way it 'was'!!!!  So I cut it up to re-use the beads.  The first picture shows my initial experiments.
Here's the final result - a necklace that I will wear and wear.  This time I used some thread that Teri sent me in the package with the beads and beautiful turtle necklace.  It's the Dual Duty.  I could eat the necklace now but it would probably give me indigestion so I'll wear it instead!!!

I lurve your necklace. I want it.

Dual Duty is a Coats & Clark thread. What size (tatting size) does this appear to be? They make threads in lots of sizes. Some are cotton, some are cotton-wrapped polyester. There's wuilting thread, sewing thread, & carpet thread.

They have a thread chart here:

Wow, Jane, you have way more patience with beads than I do. I'll use a few beads here and there, but I think that many would kill me.

Crazy Mom - the thread is called Clarke's O.N.T. Button & Carpet. It's 'extra strong polished'. It's fantastic to work with. I'll be using it again!!!

OH Jane, This is a gorgeous necklace. I have to agree. I love the beads, but you have more patience than I do. I like adding beads on picots,,,but where I have to string them,,,and then try to tat with them sliding up and down in my way,,,Yea I don't have the patience I used to.

CONGRATULATIONS on such a beautiful necklace for such a BEAUTIFUL lady as you :-]

No Crazy Mum - I want it. I wear a lot of brown as you know Jane and it would make a lovely birthday present, it would not suit you!!!
Must say you did a great job on re-doing the necklace.

This is a really lovely necklace - but I couldn't begin to face all those beads!! Which shuttle did you use to fit them all?
I like the piece becasue it's so simple and unfussy - I think we need a picture of it around your neck!

The way I go about a beady item like this is to load both shuttles half way with thread and add 50 - 60 beads on each shuttle. I never plan ahead how many I'll need - too much math!!! Then, when I run out of beads I unwind, load more, re-wind and carry on. As I use a pop a bobbin and an Aero (I REALLY need another pop a bobbin) this takes no time at all. You know me - anything for an easy life!!!

The second time round elevated the 'craft' to an artful piece of jewelry. It is lovely Jane! And, much as I love Sally ~ you hang on to this one! LOL

Gorgeous Jane!!!! I'd have a hard time parting with this one if I were you:-) Perhaps you could make another and you and Sally could have a matching set, or change the color of thread or the Tiger's Eye beads to another sort, and you could have similar ones at least right. Just a thought:-)
