:) yes and for me, I wish they could print the color on them, I loose that first off!
I think that's why I finish up with great numbers of cardboard rolls with just a smidgeon of thread on each one!

Madtatter - I write the number on the cardboard when it gets smaller enough to poke a Sharpie in. Before that and when the paper label starts to make a runner, I tuck it into the ball. The old Coats balls have a small ticket right in the middle and stuck onto the cardboard. Anything like that would certainly put the cost of the ball up so I'd rather stick with BC3 and a sharpie!!!!
Is it biodegradable?
Interesting question, Tally Tatty. If you're referring to the cardboard middle then yes (it's gone into the recycling bin) but if you're asking about BC3 - the jury is still out!!!!!
One of the things I like about Lizbeth is the little plastic baggies they come in. When the label falls off, I tuck it into the bag with the ball so I've still got it.
My cat loves to play with the cardboard centers. I try to keep the thread itself out of his paws, but that doesn't always work either!
Wrap cardboard roll in layer of felt. Glue felt circle to bottom. Gather circle of fabric into puffy ball stuffed with fiberfill or fabric scraps. Coat inside of cardboard roll with glue or adhere strip of double side adhesive tape. Insert stuffed ball. Place weight on top for 20 min. Tat short strip of simple tatting and glue to outside of roll. Ta Da! Recycled mini pincushion, easy gift.
Oh, AKTATTER, VERY clever!!! Trouble is that would take me away from tatting time!!!!
