I think this is one of the most useful ideas I gleaned on my Canadian trip. I've no idea who realised how useful these little net tubes could be for tatters. I've searched and searched online for a source to buy more but I've failed dismally. All I can tell you is that they are WONDERFUL for putting balls of thread in.
My threads get tangled in the storage I use and that drives me MAD. These are the answer to those frustrations. Thank you Fringe Tatters for these useful little tubes.

I'm pretty sure they sell these in the ubiquitous Spotlight - they call them yarn tidies. Very good idea, especially for balls of Lizbeth which always seem to fall apart.
Lucky you. Can't find them anywhere here. Well, not yet. In Canada they get them from the florists shops. Tried here but no luck so far!!!
You also find them in some supermarkets.... round onions, chinese pears, garlic.... VBG Thrift style everywhere!! LOL
Brill idea!! Taking that one up!!
You'll find them in shops that sell sewing machines especially overlockers (sergers) they're called thread nets here in the UK I think this is what they were originally used for. Never thought to use them like this though, great idea.
Around here, they will put them on wine bottles if you only by two so when they put the bottles in a bag, they don't bang together. Free with wine, double bonus!
Not sure where my last attempt at posting went, but you may wish to check quilting supply shops as folks like to use those on the cones of machine embroidery thread to prevent the thread from sliding down to the bottom of the cone while sewing. Her are some in your neck of the woods

Yep I buy three garlic bulbs at a time with this netting around them. We have no vampires in our house!!
Jane I only use these to prevent my threads from tangling but sadly I don't have enough for all of them yet! So a ready supply would really help and then I would not have to eat so much garlic!
Thanks, Hillside Threads. Great.
Oooooh, what a good excuse to drink wine. I'm on to it!!!
Thanks, Erin. Great link. Will be looking at putting in an order or drinking wine or eating more garlic!!!
Also marketed as "yarn bras"
Just a small hint.....They have to do with flower delivery for florest shops.
Brilliant idea !!!
You can add potatoes, onions, and imported apples to that list ;-P Although larger, one can simply knot them at one end! Gotta see if I have any stashed somewhere !
Thanks for sharing
I made a similar thing by taking apart a net/mesh bath scrubbie and cutting it into pieces. It was very helpful with inverted tatting.
They are called Thread Nets or Thread Socks and sold by the yard and come in a variety of colors. I like the idea of repurposing the garlic nets. :)
I think these are the same things? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Teensery-Reusable-Grocery-Vegetable-Storage/dp/B016RXBTMQ/ref=sr_1_26?ie=UTF8&qid=1445655538&sr=8-26&keywords=mesh+fruit+bags
Great idea. I get them round garlic too.
Thank you, briddie - will take a look at those.
Heehee! I would definitely go the wine and garlic route! Add some beef and have Bourguignon!
