As you all know there are many, many books ‘out there’ on tatting and the new books now hitting the shelves are ones that really are hilarious. I think they’re a joke. I DO NOT recommend you to buy them.
They’re generated from other people’s work and often include sections of text ‘lifted’ from older books/web sites. But what makes me laugh is this new generation of books. You don’t even have to look very closely to see that in the first picture for needle tatting the cover has bobbin lace on it
The second ‘author’ appears to have ‘stolen’ her cover photo from the first person which is amusing.
Now when we come to the third picture “Mastering Shuttle Tatting” you’ll notice that the book cover has some type of lace which I can’t identify but it certainly isn’t shuttle tatted!!!

Truly scary. There are some few people who know what tatting is in the craft world (except for the 1000s of us addicts!)
These stupid people out for a quick dollar are damaging our beautiful craft.ðŸ˜
At least two of the images look like AI generated; the content could be too!
Some of them have the 'sneak peek' option, where you can look at the 1st few pages of the ebook version. Reading them I'm left torn between laughing & crying. Either AI generated or really bad translation software.
My daughter sent me a post from her tatting guild. Someone had “tatting” materials to give away. Looking at photo, there were 2 crochet needles, crochet lace wrapped around the 7 balls of thread. Guess I should visit the guild and do a show and tell for tatting.
It's really very wrong. I also see a lot of 'crochet' patterns that are really knitted and vice versa. Buyer beware is all you can say.
OMG!!! How awful!
Also - the first book has a typo in the "author's" name! The period is in the wrong place!
Folks, there is a reason it's called "artificial". It is only as intelligent as what it has been fed.
Good grief!
Those last two are using AI images for the covers as well.
