In ...something your daughter will always remember. In 2000 Sydney Olympics my daughter played her saxophone in the Marching Band in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. It was exciting at the time and it is a proud moment for parents when their children do something different and memorable. I loved the James Bond sequence with the Queen doing her little part. I laughed heartedly knowing that the Queen would have enjoyed her cameo role. Also the shot of the 2 corgis left on the step... The idea of the torch lighting was quite spectacular. I'm biased as I still reckon Kathy Freeman did the best job in the lighting of the cauldron in Sydney... I really hope the whole Olympics goes off well without any unpleasant incidents. Cheers from Rosemary in NSW Australia. Not sure if Herman and the Hermits are still around. Roland Atkinson was SO funny. The Queen with James Bond was the BEST as far as I was concerned. She's said to have a great sense of humour and that showed through well. The historical parts were amazing too. I did see the opening show on TV. It was spectacular. My favorite part was when the queen was carried in a helicopter to the stadium and then, they made it look like she jumped out and parachuted down to the grounds. Very cute.
Having visited the UK, twice now, I enjoyed watching as the performers portrayed the history from the early years. Very heart warming. The missed a few of the British musicians. I didn't see Elton John or Herman and the Hermits. I did enjoy the part played by Roland Atkinson. He was hilarious, as always.Batty Tatterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03705430962903860647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27740357.post-46102492963259878732012-07-29T04:12:11.579+01:002012-07-29T04:12:11.579+01:00What an honor Jane!!! I watched it all last night, vernon got fed up and went to bed, He missed the best bit in my mind the lighting of the crodum, I could not see where it was even when the kids went up the middle of the aisle, and I also love the birds on bicycles too. On the TV this morning someone had said it was very British , what did they expect seeing it was staged in London .
I am looking forward to seeing some of the sports we don't get to see, Archier, rowing, and sailing, but the rest can take or leave it.
Have a nice weekend and lets hope the weather behaves itself for the games
MargaretMargarets designer cardshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07649752567816134409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27740357.post-60345501956833973582012-07-28T15:59:57.376+01:002012-07-28T15:59:57.376+01:00Wow! So nice to 'meet' her!

I'm looking for the scenery around London rather than the events (I prefer ice skating in the Winter Olympics). On TV I watched only the fabulous lighting of the torch in the stadium and the fireworks outside, which were totally outstanding and visually overwhelming on our 'bigger' TV set! The stadium looked like a giant blue spaceship! We saw it here (eastern US) at 11 pm. Just awesome!

I imagine you're having even more tourists than usual in your town!
