I've gone as far as I want to on this project although I might, just might add an edging to it eventually. It's not as good as I thought it was going to be. Sometimes finished work just doesn't turn out as you'd expect. I'd love to see this done in other colours but that will have to wait until I have more time. The mat measures about 9 1/2" across which is why I couldn't quite get it into the scanner!!!
Next on the list? I'll probably go back to another idea which will be a TIAS so this blog may be quiet for a while. Well, one can hope I can be quiet although it's not in the nature of the beast!!!

I think your mat is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteJane, I think it is beautiful! I was looking at the colors in our stained glass windows at church and the colors that stood out to me were gold/amber, amethyst, jade and cranberry. This is a very nice doily!!
ReplyDeleteYes it does also remind me of the stained glass windows that you have quite a few old ones of in the UK. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI think it's fantastic!
ReplyDeleteYou're probably just tired of seeing it, and aren't we always the worst critics of our own work? This design is so amazingly mathematical - I just can't even imagine working out all the numbers to make everything fit! Truly a work of art!!!
More a testament to the old method of 'hit and miss', I'm sorry to admit!!! I haven't a mathematical bone in my body!!! Thanks for the compliments - I'm sure a lot of it was cause I was sick of it. Can't think how I ever did the big 'just diamonds' one!!!

It is very lovely and after it has been out of your sight for a while you will fall back in love with it!
ReplyDeleteI want to try this, really, really. I think my mom would like it -- it would remind her of the quilts she used to make.
ReplyDeleteFABULOUS!! I knew it would be! This is my favorite new design of the year! You are awesome!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this concept. Can I ask how big this is? What is the dimensions of the mat? Please let me know. I'd love to do a project like this one.

HA! I was just going to comment that it reminded me of stained glass and I see several others beat me to it!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
