Yesterday I treated me!!!

I've been trying to do a bit of sewing lately and my machine has been playing up!! It didn't like winding bobbins and sometimes wouldn't do other functions. I bought it second hand about 38 years ago and have always really liked it. It does basic stuff with a few embroidery designs too. It must've been one of the first computerised ones on the market.
For the past few weeks I've been thinking about getting a new machine and today I did!!! Here it is. In many ways it's similar to the old one BUT it does automatic buttonholes which are easy to do too. The old one never ever did them very well and was a real fiddle. This new one is much quieter too. I LOVE my new machine!!!!

  1. Congratulations on your new sewing machine! I have to stay away from sewing machine ads, demos, sales, etc. I find it very difficult to NOT buy one! Right now, I am the proud owner of 7 sewing machines (1 treadle, 1 embroidery, 1 serger, 1 regular, 1 computerized, and 2 Featherweights). I didn't buy all of them (3 were gifts), but given the chance, I would have! They all work, and I use them for different purposes. Luckily, there's no extra money to spend this month (I bought too many tatting shuttles!), so I can't run out and buy one like yours.

  2. AH... A Janome! You picked a good machine. We have a Kenmore from Sears. Not a top of the line, but middle of the road model. Got it on major sale too.:-D But it too has the automatic button holer and a lot of embroidery options and is computerized. CAN"T LIVE WITHOUT IT!!!!! And we thoroughly abuse our machine from making all these costumes. So it has paid for itself 10 fold! I hope you get a chance to abuse your machine as well ;)

  6. Good for you! I bought a new one, just very basic, a few years ago after a similar long run with my old machine. I have a fancy electronic one my sister gave me too but it doesn't work right so it sits in the closet until I get around to taking it in somewhere.

  7. Congratulations on your new machine. I have a Janome also. I hope you like yours as much as I like mine. Can't wait to see what things you and your Janome come up with.
