I'd like to introduce you to Robin the robin!!!!
Named after a friend of my sister's, whom I have never met (and who's name IS Robin), I wanted to show you this wee chap.
Sally asked me if I could make her a Robin a few weeks ago after she'd posted this one on her blog. So this is what I came up with. Not an easy task as there are so many colours in the wee chap. Brown, black, red and white.
As you know I'm not a lover of sewing in ends so it was a challenge to get to do this without too many ends. Still, after re-writing it only once I did manage to avoid a few!!!
I've listed a couple of Robin's robins in my Etsy store. I know it's a bit stupid at this time of year but I SO wanted to share him!!!! Here are a couple of pictures of 'the bird'!!!!
Thanks Jane, Robin will be delighted that you have designed a bird in his name. Hope to be speaking to his niece Robin (yes spelt that way not Robyn) later on today, she lives in Canada and has got a Beaver Costume for me!!!! Don't ask!!!
ReplyDeleteVery 'cute', you made a great job of him.
ReplyDeleteAs a winter storm dumped 6 inches of snow last night, thinking about robins is good for the spirit! He's a handsome bird, Jane.

Robin the robin is adorable! I'm ready for some signs of spring!
ReplyDeleteso sweet I love it!! Will you have the pattern available? Definately one little guy I want to do :)
ReplyDeleteNo plans to release the pattern for maybe a year. I want to see if he sells in Etsy first!!! He also is going to be offered to somebody for another reason first. However he will be able to fly later!!!!! I'm holding onto some patterns nowadays as I really want to raise some money towards another trip to America next year!!!!
ReplyDeleteRobin is adorable. Wow! Is there anything that you can't make out of tatting. Just out of curiousity can you make a Yorkie?
ReplyDeleteI do hope that that lovely chap isn't too 'cheep'!
ReplyDeleteFox : ))
beautiful, this robin! if i was robin (the person), i'd been tremendously proud to be robin... lol
ReplyDeleteThese are darling, Jane - so cheery! Let us know when you lost the pattern - looks like a fun tat.
ReplyDeleteI hope you sell a bunch!
He is so SWEET! I love his chirpy little beak! We had a few days of seventy degrees about a week ago, now it's cold again. I'm looking forward to spring coming... and staying.
ReplyDelete:) Ann
Oh Jane!!!! When I think you have done something wonderful you surprise us yet again!!!!!!!!! He is absolutely handsome.
ReplyDeleteAh, so JB like's Yorkies. I am owned by a Yorkie, also. Now there is a challenge. I have done a Yorkie in counted x-stitch, but never a tatted Yorkie.
ReplyDeleteI like the way the robin turned out; but I liked the proto type, too. I've never seen a robin of so many colors. Usually the color on those here is the red breast. They were my mom's fav bird; followed closely by Oriels.
I am partial to mourning doves, and pheasant' and we have lovely colored Gambrel Quail here, too.
Hope when you get back I'll be able to come and see you! Certainly an even worth hanging about for…lOL

The Robin is adorable and it's not stupid. I have robins in my garden now. I'll look out for the pattern when you are ready to publish. Don't blame you, can't give all your sectrets away at once.
ReplyDeleteHe's so cute!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable! I'll look for the pattern, too...I wonder if you already have it out, LOL! I'm so behind on everyone's blogs! :)
ReplyDeleteSO CUTE! We get a couple of robins chirping around even at this time of winter. Not sure what they think they are doing here in this freezing cold!
ReplyDeleteI love this robin, too. A friend of my father (near Exeter btw) is very fond of robins and I'd like to tat one for her and one for my mother when you have the pattern out.
ReplyDeleteOr do I buy one for her birthday? I have to think about it...
Greetings from snowy and cold northern Germany.
