Chile motifs

I've been playing with those wonderful metal findings that Irma sent me which you can see here.

I wanted something that would enhance the metal and yet also make the tatting stand out.  Again I've used just two plain colours - black and cream.  There's something very stylish about these two colours together.

I think this is a little large for an earring but would make a wonderful brooch.  Maybe next time I'll use different coloured beads on the chains as they don't show up very well - who knows!!!

  2. I like the black and cream very much. And the shape reminds me of the Christmas rose which comes out in my garden at this time of year. How do you do the two-coloured edge? Have I missed a post about this? Am going on the search...

  3. Frivole - it's only lock chains!!! Just looks terrific done with two 'non variegated' threads. Not rocket science LOL.

  6. Hi CarolynK. The answer is yes!! I've got a bit more work to do on the pattern but it's 'almost' there. I've got another one to blog in a couple of days too. If you email me privately I can send you the WIP file.

    Just stunning Jane!

I think this one is perfect - I would wear it more as a brooch than earring, yes, but it is lovely. Or put it on a bag...

I was about to ask about the two-colour border. So, lock stitch chain it is... I'll have to give that a try...

  8. I don't actually know how to do a "lock stitch chain," so I'm looking forward to the pattern to see!

  9. Very pretty design, Jane. Cream & black go very well together. I don't use black so much because I can't see the double stitches very well when tatting with black thread.

  10. Oh, Susie, lock chains are SO easy. Do the first half of the chain as usual and the second half without turning (flipping) the knot. Like you'd do the second side of a SR. Email me if you want further help.
