Help required, please

Don't forget - it's Pop A Bobbin Shuttle time and the new Hooks with Hats too.  Another page has been added to the top of the blog here with a few pictures and prices.

Just a quick question today to those who have ever bought the poke proof pouches from my Etsy shop.

I've started cutting out some more of these (along with the roly poly tat bags) and wondered if anybody ever uses the tiny (and annoyingly fiddly to make!) small bobbin holders that I've been selling along with the pouches.  They come with the set and look like the one below.

The thing is that not only are they fiddly to make but I'm wondering if they're even useful.  If they are I will make more but if not then I'll not bother!!!

I know that personally I have a long holder which holds about 8 bobbins which is in my carry about bag and which I do use but these small ones - well . . . . . . . .   So, I might start a new line in long bobbin holders so how many bobbins would a bobbin holder need to hold?  Sounds like a riddle does that!!!!

All comments would be very welcome.

  1. A seperate long holder for bobbins fits my needs better. I have used the one that comes with the pouch but more often than not - no.
So happy about new poke proff pouches!

  2. I use the small ones which come with the poke-proof-pouches, but a longer one which holds 8 would be even better. Especially if it's less fiddly for you to make.

I could do with at least another poke-proof-pouch, one pair of pop-a-bobbins hasn't got a pouch yet, and a spare would be quite useful too...

  3. I don't use many shuttles with bobbins, so in general they are of no use to me.

  4. I seldom use the bobbin holder, it's small and I'm afraid I'll lose it. Do think a longer holder would be more useful and less likely to get lost.

A note: I appreciate that you make the pouch flaps long enough that I can tuck in a small project above the velcro closure but under the flap. My pouches are in daily use... but, I have some 'naked' shuttles, so am glad you are making more!

  5. Thanks everybody. I'll be making some longer holders for bobbins when I've sewn up the 20 bags and poke proof pouches I've got cut out!!! It'll be a long haul so no mischief will be made while I'm doing them all!!! Actually I might make some bobbin holders as I go along as the others get boring after a while!!!

  6. I have not used my bobbin pouch at all because I don't use shuttles with bobbins much. But, I love, love, love the roly poly bags.

  8. I use my little bobbin holder. It fits under the flap above the velcro and holds pre-wound bobbins when I'm working on a big project so I don't have to hunt up bobbins and thread when I'm in the middle of something. I don't think I'd use one that held more.

  9. Ah, Marty, that's what they were designed to do!!!! I think I'll list with the option of people having them or not. That will save me some work and time!!!!

  10. I too use the little pouches and like Marty tuck them above the velcro. I like the fact I can have a couple pre-wound bobbins to finish a project with me. but a holder that handles more bobbins would be useful too.
    thanks Jane

  11. I fall in the Marty and Ladytats catagory. I use mine the same way; so handy to have pre wound bobbins. I usually wind them CTM and just lay them in their little niche! A longer model would certainly do away with plastic baggies full of empty bobbins. It’s an idea worth exploring.
