Well here is the edging on the handkerchief. I sewed it on with the usual invisible thread. Boy that stuff drives me MAD. Well, that's not strictly true - I should say madder!!!
I used the 'Oh, so simple' edging again - probably because I'm getting boring in my old age!!!!
I gave the hanky to Julia on Monday and she's now thinking of embroidering the bride and groom's initials on there - or something to make it even more special. It's just the right size to be framed too.
I used size 80 (ish) thread for it.

Lovely, I agree I hope the bride and groom do frame it as a reminder of their day.
ReplyDeleteOr at least sho it on the day to their guests .

It is super beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOhh, you are ready already, and sewed it on already! You are so Quickly!!! Wonderful, Jane!! This is a sort of a "round hanky ";-)). Now back for a stitching, and you finish it with some beads onto the stitching or a nice packaging:-))
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful! I'd sure treasure it if I were a bride!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt sure looks lovely! What a gorgeous collaboration!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe how quickly you did it!that's a lot of tatting.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteReally nice!! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jane - I've been making that edging for several weeks now, on and off, and you have done it in a couple of days! Do you never sleep???
ReplyDeleteI had to pick myself up off the floor when I saw this completed edging!! I re-read the previous post to give me a timeline of when you started this, but it seems as if you did it overnight!!! In size 80 thread!!!! I'm stunned and speechless!!!! Love the colors and the contrasting 'outline.'
ReplyDeleteOh, Kathy, are you OK? Floors can be very hard on the body. It took about a week but not all the time. Something like that is a task I pick up towards the end of an evening after I've been working on new stuff. That edging works up pretty fast and it was only a small hanky too.
ReplyDeleteFortunately, Jane, it's a carpeted floor, and I'm quite relieved to know you didn't do the edging overnight! Even if it is a 'smaller' hanky, that's still a lot of tatting. And I know what you mean about the invisible thread! Julia is obviously skilled with the needle, so I'm sure she'd do some wonderful embroidery. I would have to do machine embroidery as I'm quite lacking in that skill! There are many ways this could be framed as a wedding keepsake!
ReplyDeleteI'm so grateful and so lucky (and I want to keep it!!) but I know that my friend the bride will really love it and appreciate the skill and work involved. Thank you Jane, I'm really lucky to have met you.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful! You did a wonderful job. Your friend is so lucky!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
