This is a new bracelet I've made to go with my reddish top that I bought to take with me on our trip.
Originally it was like this and I wore it only twice. Why? Well it just kept annoying me. The metal findings that I used were 'cupped' and although the bracelet was a good fit they still kept turning over which annoyed me intensely. So the scissors were brought in and it was demolished.
Here is the new version - below. I had to put an extra split ring in to make it fit my wrist in spite of careful measuring and lots of muttering. Still, once on nobody will notice - except me. I HOPE I don't feel I have to cut this version up!!!
By the way - the clasps at each end are my very, very favourites for bracelets and I just can't find them anywhere. If anybody knows of a supplier then please, pretty please with sugar on the top - would you tell me?

Great bracelet!! :)
ReplyDeleteLike peppermint candy!
ReplyDeleteI noticed that clasp immediately as this is the kind that is on a very old pearl necklace I have given The Boss for when she is older. The outside has tiny diamonds in it and the insert piece is the same as yours. I have not seen this type of closure in a very long time. Good luck finding this.
Fox : )
I did a quick search on the internet, and can't even find a picture of this type of clasp among the many different kinds out there. It seems very efficient. Wonder why it isn't available! I'm amazed you even found this one! It seems it might be from vintage jewelry, as Fox suggests.
ReplyDeleteI bought the clasps in America years ago (probably on my first trip so that would be 9 years). Least I'm pretty darn sure that's where I got them. They are easy to put on and just a squeeze makes them easy to undo. Such a shame they're not being made anymore. I did find similar ones on my last trip but you have to hook them over a metal 'rod' and turn at right angles before pushing them in. They're pretty good but I prefer my long gone originals. I NEVER use magnetic clasps on bracelets - I've lost several items with those.
ReplyDeleteLovely bracelet, Have you tried the Southampton bead company, they have a lot of clips,

Wow, Margaret, looks like they've got the sense to stock them!!! I'll be ordering those as soon as I get across the pond. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteYay, Margaret! That's a great name for it, too!
ReplyDeleteGotta love the internet! I'd like to get some of those, myself!
I agree about the magnetic clasps. They are pretty convenient for necklaces, but even then I 'd worry about them.
You are welcome. I am ordering some stuff from them tonight and will order them for you if that is ok.
ReplyDeleteRED = eye-catching!

There are a couple of fish hook clasps at the top of the page, in both gold plate and silver plate.
(Found by my better half, I should point out.)
Thanks, Adrian and your better half. Glad to see that you acknowledge that she is the better half!!!!!! I'm sure she'll be delighted to see you say that too!!!!!!
