Just to prove that this craft can be useful I wanted to show you one of the four windows I've hung netting in in our house.
Our house is a terraced one and the front 'garden' is roughly the size of a large postage stamp!!! This means that people walk past close to our windows all the time. I HATE net curtains with a passion but we do need some privacy. I made some filet crochet curtains which have been up now for years and cover the main windows but got fed up with making those so resorted to my netting needles and made these.
I've put both pictures up for you to have a giggle at the first one. I went outside to take the picture looking back into our room. You can see the houses opposite and the old git in the reflection!!!
I've been enjoying reading about your netting; your window "coverings"are lovely - but you could also simply replace the glass with one-way panes. Then you could see out and no-one else could see in!.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great picture of you!
Very nice. Did you make them in the kast few days? You have been very husy! I like the small star the beet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, and giging us a glimpse if your sweet self.

So Jane, how do you REALLY feel about net curtains?
ReplyDeleteFox : ))
What a clever idea. Very lovely. I would think that the netting would cause passers by to stop and look into the window! :)

Hmm ... now, instead of just walking past, they might just stop a while and admire your work.
ReplyDeleteLovely window netting. Attaching it to the round frame makes it so much easier to wash and dry. It could also be done for mignonette tatting?
ReplyDeleteJon, rsmre you're right!!! A few people do but not that many. Most people wouldn't realise that it's anything handmade either!!!
ReplyDeleteGood idea, umintsuru. It would also work for doilies too. Many years ago I hung CD's with tatting on them in a group in the windows for privacy but the colours faded a bit so we took them down.
Great idea for some privacy, and something different for the window.
ReplyDeleteI have just come back from Sheffield we go up every year for my hospital appointment, we had to call in at Vernon's sisters so we took a slight different route and ended up in the middle of Lemington Spa, looks a lovely place and great Victorian buildings, not sure my husband enjoyed your roadworks for a new morrisons.

Crikey, Margaret, I haven't been to Leamington Spa for years. Wonder where they're building now? It's about 12 miles from us. Pity you didn't pass through my town - we could've met up.
ReplyDeleteWe go up to Sheffield every year for my eye, there are only two hospitals in the whole country that can deal with my eye cancer. At the moment it's not move or changed, we will be going up again next year. We usually go up the Fosse Way to Coventry and then join the M69 for the M1. This year we had to stop at Vernon's sisters re his fathers death at Oxford so we were on different roads and got a bit lost. The building work was on the outskirts of Leamington to the south I think of the town.
