I get exasperated with myself most days when I go to pick up shuttles and find them in a muddle on the table by the side of 'tat corner'.
Following the 'un-tangling of the shuttles' there is the next part of the game which is called 'hunt the crochet hook' followed a while later by the final part of the game, before I can settle down properly, which is called 'hunt the scissors'.
In an attempt to stop this game in the future I've made a little stand up 'thing' which now sits by me and which I've now got to train BC3 (brain cell 3) to use. The size means it'll also hold a ball or two of thread too. Not sure what I'm going to call it but originally it was going to be a 'shuttle park' but it'll more likely be named something else.
I will be looking at improvements to the idea in case anybody else might want one. I'll see what the reaction is to the idea first but I'm pretty sure Sally will want one as she has the same problems as me!!!
I like it! - but you need to speak to Ginny Weathers: when she came here, she gave us all a wonderful "mug thing"; it's a sort of quilted holdall which sits neatly inside and outside an ordinary coffee mug, and it has lots of pockets. Mine is in constant use, I will take a picture of it to show you.
ReplyDeleteI rather do not show it to my husband, he'd love not to see my tatting stuff on the coffee table every evening. Or better, I do it, close to Christmass...
ReplyDeleteAh! I know exactly what you mean! I like what you've done, and I think your shuttle park would be beneficial to many tatters.
ReplyDeleteIt's really cute and reminds me of a mini knitting bag.
ReplyDeleteLove it. Put a handle on it and it can be a tatting carry all - used by tatters on the go!
ReplyDeleteI found a little tote just big enough to hold a couple balls of thread and has pockets on the outside. I have the same problem you do: I need to train myself to use it instead of leaving projects out on my desk. I've lost a nice little pair of embroidery scissors, that I just bought a month ago, because I didn't put them back in their pocket.
ReplyDeleteLove it!!
ReplyDeleteI'll take 2 in purple and 1 in lt blue!!
Love the denim inside for firmness to stand.
I'm afraid the denim didn't work well. It was too stiff. I'm now trying stiffened fabric and it's much, much better. I'll show you the next stage tomorrow or Friday. Meantime I'm on the 3rd incarnation!!!!
ReplyDeleteNeat!
ReplyDeleteIt is very cute, and looks extremely useful. However, I am a little confused becoz I thought that the whole purpose of roly poly tat bags, shuttle pouches, et al was to corral shuttles, hook, and scissors with the WIP? That said, one can always use another project bag...:-D
ReplyDeleteAh, Suzanne, I use the roly poly bags for traveling and this new idea will be for 'static' use!!! I've been so good so far using the one test pot but now think I'll need two as I've got two projects 'on the go'!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the "shuttle park." I would like to see a mobile incarnation of this idea with a draw string to close up the middle section (holding the thread I presume)and a handle.
