Some time ago it was pointed out to me that I rarely tat other people's patterns and looking through the new Shuttle Brother's book it dawned on me why.
First of all most of the time I've thought of a new idea and want to try it out. Then I spend a lot of time going back to old patterns that need updating. Finally it occurred to me that the reason I don't tat many other patterns is cause I do love to challenge BC3 and I don't see many that would!!!!
As I said in my last post on this topic - I'd tried the bauble/bobble tatting many years ago so I decided to skip the preliminary 'training the brain' patterns and dived straight in with the one I'd fallen instantly and utterly in love with - the mouse!!!
Now tatting the mouse was really easy once I'd got into the swing of it. The pattern is beautifully notated and simple to follow especially when you realised that there was a 'proper' way to make it. This where I realised I should've refreshed the brain first so I did go and make a small purple bauble first!!!
The only real problem I had was the little giggles that kept coming from me as I was making him!!! To say I loved every minute of tatting him is an understatement. In fact once I'd finished him I immediately started a second one. Here is mouse number 2.
So yesterday they both came out with me to see friends. They were totally entranced with them. I also took their new friend but you'll have to wait to see him tomorrow!!!!!
You're tatting a dead mouse?? interesting book!
ReplyDeleteI think Jane's BC3 has decided she lives in a 'windmill in Old Amsterdam'.... for those OG's like me that remember the song!! LOL Love the mouses tho Jane!!
ReplyDeleteWow!! That is amazing!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, but then she will have to tat a Whole Lot of them......
ReplyDeletethat is really cute! I know more then one grandchild who would love to have their own mouse. I may have to look that book up.
ReplyDeleteHilariously adorable. Seriously cute!
ReplyDeleteApart from his cute little paws and ears, he looks as though he's knitted! Looking at tatting from a different angle, for sure.
ReplyDeleteRat or mouse? Mouse have hair on their tails that match their bodies, rat has hairless, pink tails, no?
ReplyDeleteTara - I've never studied the rear ends of mice or rats!!!! It's not my pattern but such a pleasure to tat.
ReplyDeleteWell I say it is a rat! So Jane is now like the Pied Piper of Hamlen!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sally, looks like an adorable rattie up to no good. She looks like she is going to steal something.
ReplyDeleteSo cute and adorable! :) but where there are rats.... the MUST be cheese..... a whole block wedge of it.....? with holes?
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a mouse who lost the hairs on her tail. BUT, is this TATTED? I mean the body? Its brilliant little eyes show it is alive. It just drank too much from the bottom of your glass!
ReplyDeleteOOOOO he is well cute! I wonder if it's made the same way as their caterpillar and hedgehog??? I am going to have to add that book to my wants list! Why did I retire and reduce me income????
ReplyDeleteGreat mouse!
ReplyDeleteAdorable!
ReplyDeleteYou hedgehog and possum are so stinkin' cute! Love them! Thanks for sharing and for being so talented! Dyan
