Not a lot

Well all those who read my blog will probably be relieved to hear I've not got a lot to say today!!!!

One thing I probably need to do is remind those taking part in the TIAS that the boats not in would be very welcome to sail into harbour at any point.

There were 102 starters that I know of (I didn't get time to go and 'harvest' from blog posts) and have 74 finished ones in the docks. I know there's no time limit and I know that it's not the point to try and beat records but it's nice for everybody to know who else is taking or took part.

If this game is becoming 'old hat' and needs to be dropped then I'm happy to do that but I'll keep going as long as I get at least 50 taking part each year!  After all it keeps me busy when I might just fall off my perch with boredom during January/February each year.

  1. Now we'd hate to think we'd brought about the demise of a perfectly good tatty BC3 wouldn't we ladies?? and apart from that the rest of us (at least 75...) would also fall off our perches with boredom if we couldn't take part, or at least start!!! VBG

  2. I have mine started but have had achy hands this winter and tatting just isn't on the agenda by the time I get home from work each day.

  3. Oh please don't drop it, I learned so much from it and I wish you would continue with more all year .

  4. Although I haven’t yet participated, I'm ALWAYS intrigued and delighted to follow along! It’s such a creative idea, going back to 2008! (am I correct that it’s your invention?) It’s just a lot of fun (I love puzzles), and a wonderful way to learn new techniques!

First, there are your brilliant and clever designs PLUS your excellent drawings (always awesome) and detailed instructions, where you even accommodate front side/back side tatting (amazing). Then you opened up a new blog(!) to keep track of all the submissions from day 1, with photos and often humorous guesses, poems and drawings! At the final submissions, I keep a quick chart of all the tatters, and where they are from! Many (most?) don't seem to have blogs, so it goes to show how many 'quiet' tatters are out there, all around the world. (I keep waiting for a tatter from Hawaii to show up! ) In some cases they DO have blogs, which is always a surprise to me!

Then there's the very psychological 'lift' we get during the miserable winter weather (although some are having summer!) and gives us something to look forward to. ( For me personally, it wasn't just miserable weather this year but also a miserable cold.)

So please realize that this tradition is now part of our lives and is eagerly anticipated! . Thank you so much for all the work you put into this!

  5. I look so forward to you tias each year. Jan and Feb can get so dull. But you keep us perking. And we also, always learn something as well.

  6. Well, Kathy, I didn't realise that people just followed the TIAS. Your comment has given me new insight into the whole thing!!! I only see it from the 'command centre's' point of view. Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment.

  7. Folks, I've no intention of stopping the TIAS but feedback is important as I don't want it to stagnate. I keep trying to think of more interesting ways to do it so any suggestions would be taken on board.

    1. What if you published a series of elements and challenged the participants to devise a way to link them into a recognizable shape? That way everybody gets a chance to discover their inner designer.

    2. Ah, that's worth passing by BC3. Thanks, Suzanne.

  8. My grandson and I love the TIAS; it takes place during the summer school holidays here and he loves to be here with me on the days that each new part is released! I think it was the aeroplane which he and I first tackled together - special times to remember as he grows older!

  9. And a postscript: on Saturday, at a meeting of the Qld Tatters, three people had brought their boats to show - you have a far-flung fleet!

  11. I've just finished mine! I need to hide the ends before I can send it in to your harbour. :-)
