Life becomes clearer - with consequences!

The 'joys' of old age are sometimes thrust upon me!!! Two weeks ago I had my eyes tested. They'd deteriorated a LOT in the past two years so I was told.  Plus there's a cataract too in one of them (please don't tell BC3).  Not that the new 'resident' is any cause for alarm but yet another small annoyance.

So, on Tuesday I picked up my new specs.

Wednesday I went back as I was getting motion sickness - due to them needing to be adjusted.

Thursday - fine.

Friday - back to complain. I was forced to make a complaint to the optician about my new specs. Why? Well I can now see DUST and COBWEBS and am forced to address those darn problems.  Sheeeeeeesh, I hate housework!!!

Size 20 thread looks like bailer twine which is great!!!!!  Below are a few more Fandango Coaster squares on my runner.  I've lost track of how many I've shown you now!!!!

  1. Commiserations on the new glasses. Presently going through much the same problem myself, with the new ones having to be remade no less than THREE times. I think most people develop cataracts eventually - comes with living!
I'm looking forward to seeing the runner all done - are you doubling up on any of the squares?

  2. No, Maureen. No two squares will be exactly the same!! Almost probably as BC3 runs out of ideas but not exactly!!!

  3. New specs?! That's a reminder that I need to get my eyes checked. I always dread it, because I wind up spending lots of money on something necessary, when I'd rather spend that money on something fun!

  4. LOL Jane!!! I can always count on you to make me smile!! I have had the same problem with my specs and my remedy for the seeing too much dust is just take them off when you look at furniture and such :) My home looks very clean that way!! Tehehehehe Love the colors your are using for your runner by the way...so bright and cheery!

  5. oh, yes, new glasses are always fun. The messed mine new ones up last year and had to redo them. But yes, I know what you mean about seeing things you would rather not. I need 2 pairs now, one for regular stuff - driving and other long distance things. and a pair for close stuff - the computer and my tatting.

  6. Ah, the problem with taking the specs OFF, Barbara is that I can't see anything at all!!!! I'll just have to live with having a cleaner house!!!

  8. Jane, I'm so glad you've been able to sort out your optical woes - to the extent possible ... If you can tat, tat's all that matters !!!

I'm loving your Fandango runner - each new addition brings new wonder ! I can see you enjoying your play with colours ;-)

  9. Dear Jane, I also had new glasses last week. And now, I can see that you have very posh new wall paper (grey and white dots, très chic), and something changed on your lay-out as well, but I don't know what.

  11. I had cataract surgery a few years ago. A vast improvement. I see distance better now. So the cob webs in the far corner are more visible. Sheesh.

  12. I love the new color and pattern of your page. I love glasses , I worked in an optical shop for over 14 years. I just love them, not just to see but to wear as a fashion statement. HA some people look better with glasses and if they are the right size and shape and color they compliment an already good looking person.

  13. OH , Denise, it is very sweet to write such a thing! I became allergic to contact lenses very quickly, then switched over to glasses. I hate them. They are always lost, dirty or on top of my head .They make my eyes look smaller, and I can't talk to someone with my specs on!
I am short-sighted , which is GREAT for tatting . Why do we have to look in the distance? There is no tatting there!
