Can you tell the difference between these two motifs?
If you can't then I've wasted a lot of time drawing up a new technique!!!! Well I think it's new and I think I'd rather call it a cheat than a technique.
I'll wait for comments and then explain all tomorrow!!!
You've climbed out of the central ring by doing an 'uneven' split ring?
ReplyDeleteIt looks like there could be a sifference with the transition from the center to the outside, but I could alao just be looking too hard. :)
ReplyDeleteI can!!!! VBG.... now where's the pattern and me shuttles....
ReplyDeletethe second one looks much nicer without the uneven red/green split ring in the second layer, or the red/green split ring in the layer of all red rings.
ReplyDeleteFirst is a mock picot to split ring to climb out. Does it have something to do with that split ring joining the second color ( do not see color change in mock picot)
ReplyDeleteIt's not that obvious, but the second one has a perfect 'star' shape in the green thread. which is quite pleasing.. I look forward to seeing how you managed to do it!
ReplyDeleteI agree with all the above, the climb out split ring is all green where it should be.
ReplyDeleteI can see a difference. I like the bottom one better. It looks a bit neater.
ReplyDeleteJust give us the technique Jane and put us out of our misery!!!!
ReplyDeletehmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm teach me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe second one is nicest You did less gymnastics in the center.
ReplyDeleteBoth look wonderful!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou've found a way to prevent the change of colour on the split chain??? I did it the other day by leaving the tail of the appropriate colour at start of 1st ring,... Then when I got back to the split chain - I used the tail to wrap the core + Sh#1 thread... Then hid the remnant of the tail. No colour in the wrong place...
ReplyDeleteWas that how yer did it????
I agree about the 1st - a mock picot to climb out. Leaves us with an uneven SR - not appealing if working with 2 colours.
ReplyDelete2nd is perfect ! My take it that you did something like a split chain in the SR round - the bottom left (centre) green & maroon ring is Not a True ring or even an SR in the 'normal' sense. It has a partial split chain type of element in the green part. Or may be it is some kind of new SSSR ?!
And the next 2 maroon rings on the outer rounds follow (by the telltale tiny little green 'blips'.
However, I still cannot figure out how you have gone about it. Especially not without shuttles in my hand.
Very very excited & eager to see your new technique, Jane !
Thoroughly enjoyed this puzzle, even if I couldn't solve it completely.
