House keeping and more

The housekeeping refers to the blogs that I follow.  I spent ages yesterday afternoon sorting them out.

Why? Well, I went to add another one and got my wrists slapped by blogger who told me I was already following 300 which is the limit they allow!!! Naughty, naughty Jane!!!

So I went on a journey and checked each blog and deleted all those that hadn't been updated for over a year.  It was a sentimental trip as I deleted old friends who's blogs I'd been following.  BUT I couldn't delete Gina Brummett's blog - not yet.  There was one blog left there that I thought I'd deleted ages ago as when I visited it and clicked on a picture it took me to some very suspect places.  It's gone now too.  Frightening as who knows what nasties are on that person's computer.

I've got the list down to 204 now.  Next job is to go and remove from the front of the blog (that's the bit you see on the right side of the posts) those who don't blog regularly and add those that do!!!!  Well, that's the plan but I need another stretch of time to do it in!!!  I just hope that people will let me know of (or that I'll find) new tatting blogs to add.  I'd hate to miss anything to do with tatting!

Just for a change I made a Fandango coaster - and then I didn't like it!!!!  It just wasn't quite right for some reasons - just the colours, I mean.

  1. I always check for the updated blogs on the right hand side of your page - it's good to have them all in one place! The coaster is very "seventies "in those colours - you could set a trend!

  2. House keeping is one of those necessary evils. It's a shame it takes so much time away from tatting! I suppose I should do some house keeping as well, but I think I'll wait until I get one of those notifications! ;-)

  3. Ooh, Jane, green and orange are my favorite colors! I was just thinking how much liked this one. :)

  5. I don't think you ever followed mine. I know it has been quiet for a few months now...so that should have given you some room for another blog

    1. I follow yours, Sherry but it probably is only in my following list and not on the public one at the side here.

    2. Sorry, meant reading list, Sherry. The reading list is on the dashboard.

  6. I like the Fandango colours, too :-)

Wow, 300 ! I've just touched 100, & find it really difficult to keep up with them all (even if few are not active) - enjoyable, but time guzzlers ;-)

Whittling down to 204 is some achievement ! I came across a site that is a Bibliography of tatting (& some other crafts) books & materials, etc. It is still a WIP, but already Leigh has 400 reviews of tatting books & magazines. Here is the link (for tatting page), in case it is new to you : http://www.somethingunderthebed.com/CURTAIN/TATTINGbiblio.html

  7. Wow! Thanks for the encouragement. I got into tat-ology and cleaned up everything. I keep a very short blog list; I follow through yours and other blogger’s lists - sneaky but it works for me. : ))

Thanks again. I love weeding out non-used stuff and had to look up some ‘Blogger how-tos,” on how to delete some stuff. Ah, all done - back to tatting.

    1. It's interesting, Fox. There's the 'reading list' which is private and which shows on the dashboard and then there's your own list which you can add as a widget which you can put wherever you like as a public link on the blog. Housekeeping is great as long as it doesn't involve a hoover or a duster!!!

    2. Yes, I saw all that... makes it easy to simplify things.

      p.s What's a duster? : ))

    3. A duster is a small cloth which you're supposed to take round the house with you to collect and dispose dust with. So I believe - LOL.
