Some random photos

First of all we managed to persuade Martha to put on her drop dead GORGEOUS collar that she's been blogging about for a few months. It's truly exquisite. What a lovely smile too.

Under that is a picture of a vegetable display in the store where Kelly works. I couldn't get over the different varieties of veggies that are available in the Canadian stores. Lucky people.

At the bottom is a waffle I made!!!! Yes, I do love to make my own waffles!!! They have the 'technology' to make them in the Best Western Hotels both in Canada and America so that's always my first 'stop' at breakfast if I'm ever staying in one!!! I'm a pathetic (and quite rotund) old git now!!!!

  1. Isn't that collar just amazing? She had it over blue at Tat Days, and now over red. Gorgeous either way!.

  3. Waffles with maple syrup? Very decadent, but it looks so delicious. They have those machines in some of the Qantas lounges here, but as I don't Get On with things that Plug In, I haven't tried them for myself.
The collar is magnificent, and it's interesting to see how modern it looks over today's clothing!

  8. I am so pleased that you showed these photos of Martha wearing this fabulous collar! In re-reading her blog, I now realize that this is actually a 'modern' design - no doubt a tribute to the amazing designers from the 'early days' of tatting when these 'yokes' were the fashion of the day. However, this pattern is very appealing today! It is included in a book called 'Practical Tatting' from Phyllis Sparks, published around 1993. I see that Snowgoose has the book at a reasonable price (only one left, however!).

I somehow was not aware of Phyllis Sparks until Martha started this pattern (only in June!) Thanks to Martha's blog - and to your photos of Martha wearing the collar - we are more aware of Phyllis' name and book! Martha did show an excellent photo of the finished collar on her blog - but seeing her wearing it is very special!

  10. Martha's collar is stunning! I loved seeing her wear it at Palmetto Tat Days. I even read through the pattern, but I'm pretty sure I won't be making it any time soon.
