I'm still busy trying to get things ready for the October fair in the library.
I've made a dozen bookmarks using several different patterns but won't be making anymore as I'm not sure many people still read paper books.
Personally I only read digital nowadays. A lot of the reason is because I can adjust the font size and also it's easier to carry around a phone/tablet/ereader than a paper book.
Shame really as I love making bookmarks and there are so many out there to choose from too.

I've read several times recently that sales of paper books are increasing, so all may not be lost! And you will be in a library after all. I must admit I'm very bad with bookmarks, always end up using a scrap of paper to mark my place.
ReplyDeleteI think you may be wrong about that, Jane! I certainly read "proper" books and don't think that I will change this preference. Our local library did it's own research, and the result was that although it is of course possible to borrow e books, what the majority of borrowers liked more than those are the talking books.
ReplyDeleteYour bookmarks will be popular, good luck with the craft show.
Hello Jane! I work in our local library and Yes, we have lots of patrons who like to read a real book. And who wouldn't want such a pretty bookmark! But we also have those who prefer e-readers. I read both types of books. I like the e-reader too Jane, like you said, adjusting the font is a big plus. I also like it for the gentle light so you can read in bed and not disturb your partner with a blaring light. I have been doing audio books though due to my busy schedule, I don't have much time to sit and read, but with the audio book, I can use it while I drive and working around the house to do mundane cleaning. Sure makes cleaning much more tolerable. :) But I always have a book going to on the coffee table for the times I do get to sit and read a book, so a pretty bookmark is a must there.
ReplyDeleteI am sure they will be loved!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's really interesting and good to know that paper books are making a comeback. Thanks for the input, folks.
ReplyDeleteI know I am some sort of dinosaur but I've only ever read paper books. I don't have a tablet, and I really don't feel tempted by digital reading. I probably feel I already spend too much time with a screen at work!!! Anyway, love the bookmarks, very pretty :)
ReplyDeleteThe computer has spoiled me for doing exactly what you mentioned - enlarging the type. I'm assuming younger people might be able to more easily read real books. Interesting how things are disappearing in these times.
ReplyDeleteBut as someone pointed out, you are in a library so it might be a good idea to make a few more!
I’m another one who reads regular books regularly. I do have a digital reader but that’s so I can take lots of books on vacation and still fit some clothes in the suitcase.
