Well having seen Diane’s Dorset buttons I had to have a go myself. I remember doing some many years ago but had forgotten how easy they are but how they are quite a problem to get looking good. Diane’s leading the way with making them while I think that I’ve now given up - at least for many more years!!!
I love Diane's combination of Dorset buttons and tatting.
ReplyDeleteWhy you given up???? You can tat round them!! Go on.... you know you can!! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm with Pigmini... tat around them!
ReplyDeleteI think something went wrong when I commented on this last night, but I’ll have another go and try to remember what I said.
ReplyDeleteI too was bitten by the Dorset buttons especially Diane’s tatted ones. I had to have a go! Two dying arts worked into one, not that tatting is dying now.😀
I too had trouble with the spoke placement until I used my picot gauge! A really simple fix!! Diane had said she was having trouble with that too and I suggested it to her, she said it sounded a great idea but I don’t know if she used it or found something else, she didn’t say 😀 Also I laid a tape measure over the ring each time I tied a spoke in the middle so I COULD SEE WHEN I had it centered. I’m happy with my results 😀
Your bottom right hand pic looks good, please have another go because when you get up and running, I can imagine you coming up with something great and it would be a shame to see stop now! 😀
That's a good trick, Janet. I very, very rarely use a gauge but think i have one somewhere. Oh, I've got a set of Clover ones.
ReplyDeleteAs Dorset buttons (and tatting round them) is similar to a normal button I haven't been able to think of much to do with them. I've done lots of button patterns over the years and I can 'see' Dorsets in them but doubt I'll go and repeat myself!!!! At the moment I've sidetracked into other crafts too plus some tatting designs which will eventually find themselves onto my site!!
