Monday moan - back today

Yes for all the fans of my Monday moans (both of you - you'll be offered a pay rise for reading it!!) I have one this week.
As you know from previous moans I belong to a lot of Facebook tatting groups.  I'm never totally sure how Facebook 'works' but I've got no secrets (only the ones I never share online - like my love of all things chocolate etc!) so rarely have cause to add anything to conversations.

There was a post on a very popular tatting group over the weekend which I followed but didn't comment on until it was seemingly abandoned.  The group has a strong ethical rule about naming the designer of anything that members post which is a GREAT idea as it means we can all find the pattern either on a website or in a book.

What a surprise to find that the owners of the group had changed the header picture but NOT NAMED THE DESIGNER AND SOURCE.  It wasn’t something I’d want to make but I do want to see what other designs that person has done.  Those who make the rules seemingly have the rights to break them too!!  I felt sorry for the poor moderator who’s been left ‘holding the baby’ by the admin team.

Life never ceases to surprise me.

Meantime another wet walk on Saturday but fortunately, just for a change, it didn’t rain!

  1. I am a Monday Moaning groupie! Good to see that Not ALL is perfect in the world on Mondays. It’s very hard to keep up with all the rules and patterns, perhaps the header is a simple oversight.
What I hate, and not only in tatting groups, are the pictures which are shown of someone’s work with absolutely no information. What thread/ size/ colour, what wool did you use and what’s the pattern called.
Then what happens is that multiple people have to ask these questions.
If I ruled the world every picture would have to have all relevant details supplied.

  2. That must be where you stand and blow your trumpet. I can see you doing just that, for some reason. Haha.

  3. Ha, ha, Tim!!! Me and music just don’t mix!!! I really don’t like music at all. In fact the lady who teaches us at Keep Fit turned off the background music today and it was BLISS.

  4. I wish you did rule the world, Maureen!!!! Also what I hate about Facebook is that posts disappear down the page never to be seen again!!

  5. I rarely post on Facebook groups any more. I've dropped out of a few, can't remember which ones. I mainly stay on to keep in touch with family.

  6. Diane - most of my family seem to have abandoned it so I just mainly stay on as I’m ‘nosy’ and like to know what’s going on in Tat Land!!!

I’m a Monday Moan follower. I enjoy your moans. You have a lot of talent and we agree on many things. I see chocolate (dark for my taste) is right up at the top. Keep moaning, Jane and have a great week.

  8. I meant to thank you for pointing out to someone that ‘ from the internet ‘ didn’t really hack it for Grace Tan’s cross. That post disappeared before I could comment on it! Yeah, the people who run the group need to obey their own rules. I think the principle of naming the designer is good, but they get a bit carried away. Few rings and chains and they want to know who the designer was.

  10. I love your "Monday Moans" Jane as they often make me smile since I can empathize with them. FB groups are difficult these days, so carry on and "moan away"!

Hi Jane not a regular here. But you do know me. I left this group as a mod for reasons I am happy to share. The reasons so everyone knows

Back stabbing again, are we now? Not very nice if you, you left, move along, life is too short. I'm member of many tatting groups too, but what you're doing is just vile. Probably you were kicked out, not left as you say, and now you're butt hurt. You're making me laugh.

Hey Jane, would love to tell you about my stint as a moderator.... It would be great if they understood how fb actually works

  13. Well, Anonymous, I’m not sure what back stabbing you’re talking about. No names were mentioned and I’m allowed to have my own opinions in my little space (my blog) on the internet. I’ve not left the group and not been ‘kicked out’ either as far as I know.
Actually reading your comment again I’m not sure what you’re talking about when it comes to back stabbing.
At least I’ve voiced my opinions in public and in my own name instead of (obviously) hiding behind an ‘anonymous’ name.

Wasn't aimed at you, the person I was addressing to knows who she is
