Technique for Georgia

Georgia asked me a few weeks ago to do a technique for her.  Apparently a few people are having trouble doing this idea.  So, me being me off I trotted to do it.  First problem was understanding how to do it myself!!!

I'm not totally sure where this technique originated from but I found it here and here in my search and I THINK that what I've done HERE is the same.  If not then I'm totally lost which isn't a new thing!!!!

It's a way of making another ring on top of one already being worked - bit like working a ring on top of a chain but this time working a ring on top of a ring.  At first I found it confusing (not new for me to be confused - it happens easily!).  Now I really like this idea but I'm not sure yet whether I'll ever use it!!!

Have you ever thought about how I do the drawings when I'm doing a technique?  Probably not!!!!

I reckon if somebody was to stand behind or beside me and film it then it would be hysterical!!!  I have a graphics pad to draw with (like a pen and paper) and this relieves the strain of using a mouse on my hand.  The pad sits firmly on my lap while I hold the pen.  BUT I also have shuttles, beads, threads to contend with as well.  I make and study each movement as I draw which, I promise you, isn't easy.

Oh, IF this was ever filmed it would have to be a silent movie as the 'talking to myself' and the 'cussing' are unbelievable!!!!

Loop tatted ring, by any chance?? A very useful technique and fun, too!

Clear discription and so easy to read it only :))! Would have loved to see the "silent movie" ;-) Crafters should vote for the evolution of a third hand ;-).

Isn't this what we do on the second half of a SSSR? We would just do it the entire way around, right?

Thanks Jane. Clear discription. I might even try this again. Just could not get the rings to close right. So gave up trying it so now will have to give it another try.

Yes, the loop tatted ring. Bina has it on her site http://www.paradisetreasures.com/teablossom3d.html
it sure is good to see that you've explained it in another tutorial, your illustrations are always top-notch, Jane! I need to practice this some more, it's so useful to have a ring come through a bead.

Susie - it's sort of like doing the SSSR but really taking it a step further, I think!!! You just have to watch the closing of the top ring and be sure it's the right thread you're pulling first!!! Guess who kept pulling the wrong one - me!!!!

Oh, sure... Go and make something appear so easy half an hour after I couldn't even get a normal ring to close properly! :-P Now, I'm wanting to try this and I know it'll just make my head spin. :-P Ya know, one of these days, I should take one of my loaded bobbins, sit here, and just try out your techniques... Hmm... I might just do that... (And, while I'd love to see a film of you documenting them, I'm sure me trying out most of the techniques would lead to a movie that would make Gordon Ramsay blush from the cussing!). ;-)

ive done the loop tatted ring when making the candlelight snowflake. I really enjoyed learning the tequnique and its very visually striking with beads.

I personally think that your drawings are remarkable! I'd get a kick out of a video if you ever make one ;o)
