Custom order

Now this is a custom order from one of the guys I help with computers on a Thursday morning. He saw a pendant I was wearing the other week and asked me if I could make him one in a paler purple and also make earrings too.  Not for him to wear, I may add, but for him to give as a gift.

I like making this pattern so that wasn't a problem at all with the pendant. I was wearing longer earrings than those in this picture and he asked if I could make smaller ones. Easy peasy. I remembered this pattern which is another I like making as I can play with colours and they're reasonably sized too.

I gave him the set last week and he seemed quite pleased with it.

Such a nice man to arrange a special present for someone! - and coincidentally, the picture of the set is directly opposite Victats' Easter egg on the right hand side of your blog - exactly the same colours! - green and purple. You arranged that well.

It's always nice to have a pleased customer! I do like purple and green together. It reminds me of violets, which I hope to see blooming soon!

Yes it is a very spring time set and I wonder with all your beading that you do, what is your favorite shuttle for this kind of work? I would think this is a lot of beads to put on a shuttle and do you use a hook separately? I have made and use an all in one at times but hard to work with larger shuttles any advice?

My favourite shuttle for years and years has been the old Aero but also use Aerlit too. There are 48 beads on one shuttle and 24 on another - not too many at all really. I use the Aero/Aerlit hook for joining purposes but for adding the beads (when I add to a picot) I love the short hooks that Georgia sells. They're cut down ones with a top on and a plastic end with a ring which you can then attach to a chatelaine (or something)! I always use the size 0.4mm hooks as they work well with size 11 seed beads. Hope that helps.

Thanks that is very interesting and 48 is not too many. I struggle with the Aerlit and don't use them at all, but know that is the shuttle that many tatters use. Thanks for getting back with me it's fun to know details :)
