As you know I was so, so kindly given a copy of Dora Young's book a couple of weeks ago by Patti Duff and I cannot leave it alone!!!! I am forcing myself to do snowflakes in between but I simply HAD to start another doily - this time it's the one on page 15. So, I name Patti as the first person to be blamed!!!
The second is Bestitched who dragged me away from my promise NOT to buy anymore threads at Tat Days.
I was doing pretty well on Friday and Saturday and only bought 3 balls of 'essential' colours that I was short of. Then on Saturday evening/Sunday morning they announced a price reduction and 'sadly' this packet of pastels 'fell' into my bag!!!!
Those who were around at the time were astonished that I chose these plain pastel colours and at the time I had no idea what I was going to do with them either. BUT the blue was the first choice for the page 15 doily. Oh, these are size 40 which is my new favourite size!!!

I always think that the colour selections in these packs somehow make the threads look all the more enticing - it's a very pretty blue. How lucky that you had just the right colour for the new pattern, that never happens to me.
That must be a baby blue. Beautiful color.
Irresistible colours, I quite understand!
I would I had done the same as you, but my son Edwin told me not to bring new threads and you know I am very obedient to my son!!!!
So now I can't tat that doily I am crying
💟Such percision with your work looks excellent 💟
I'm so, so sorry to hear that you're being good and listening to Edwin!!!! Next time don't listen to him!!!!
That is gorgeous already!!! :)
Love a pastel doily.
Jane, I have searched for a tatting book by Dora Young, and all I'm coming up with is Dora the Explorer! Can you give the name of the book you are working from, please?
It's the All New Knotless Tatting Designs book, Cozy. I'd been searching for it online for ages but it's been out of print for years. The GOOD news is that Heidi is getting it re-printed next year as she has permission from Dora's descendants. I'm addicted to it as you'll see in future posts too!!! I've never read Dora the Explorer but it sounds just my 'cup of tea'!!!!
