First Cabochon finished

Well after many abortive attempts to do this I've finally got the first 'good one' finished.

Part of the problem was doing the front as BC3 decided to go walkabout and left me in the lurch. I'm working on the pattern - text is always done as I go along. The drawings need to be finalised and then it'll be 'good to go' on the pattern site.

Top picture is the front and (obviously) the bottom is the back!!!!

The working title for the design is 'Working with Cabochons' but if anybody can think of a better title I'd be very grateful.  This design needs NO glue if worked with the correct thread - size 20.

Beautiful! I don't dare go looking for square or rectangular pieces. I have enough round ones to last a lifetime!

It looks to me like something one of the ladies might have worn during filming of Downton Abbey. I was thinking perhaps "Grantham Brooch?"

This is very pretty Jane - I especially like seeing the tatting through the transparent portion of the stone!

That's interesting, IsDihara. I didn't watch Downton Abbey. Good name.

I really love this and it is one of my favorite things to tat frames around things to this is a frame you can wear around you neck, it is two on one purpose I will have to now go out and find these square things :)

I was really wondering how you would go around the rectangle. Those look wonderful.
