Then they were done!!!

Seven!!! Now I THINK I could have enough for another round but I'll admit now to being totally fed up with the colour!!! Seemed like a good idea at the time!!! I just may start another in white as I've plenty of that in size 40.

I was very proud of myself the other day. I saw a splendid 'lot' on Ebay with several balls of size 40 in white. It was a reasonable price too even with postage. I kept going back to look at it for several hours and then decided I ought to go and check my own stash before buying it!! I'm glad I did - I've got two or three balls of white 40!!! So, having established that I may just start another much larger version of the Dora Young doily like this one. Who knows!!!!

I think most of us have an impulse to buy new threads (or beads or findings) when we already have some in our stashes. I love how the doily turned out! The middle looks like a pinwheel.

Looking good Miss! I wonder if it'd work in variegated... how many balls did you use?

I love the swirly star pattern it makes, and white next time is something I admire and yet struggle to do cause of my eating and my little black dog. ❤

What a beautiful piece of 'art' you have there, Jane. Absolutely stunning.

So beautiful!!! The joins between each element is practically invisible. I mean, I only can see them because I know they are there. I'm sure I wouldn't notice them if I didn't know your doily is composed of several motifs :)

Great job, it's beautiful. I started this one last year. One of my UFOs. I'm going to get your creative juices going...here's the twist, I'm using two colors. Center pinwheel is one color and one triangle of each of the surrounding pinwheels is same, the remaining 5 triangles are different. It will create a spinning six pointed star in the middle.
Can't get back to this for another week or so, but your welcome to try it.
Going to Shuttlebirds!

This is a wonderful optical illusion! I would never have imagined how it was accomplished, without your 'progress' reports. And the joins are truly invisible. It seems to be a good size. I hope you use it on a table - or frame it!
