Whoops a daisy!!!

Last week a new store opened about a mile away from me - just 'out of town' but within an easy walking distance.

Why am I mentioning this? Well because it's a miracle.

Prior to this our only two fabric/yarn stores had closed down in town and it was hard (almost impossible) to buy even a sewing needle although we do have an EXCELLENT curtain/yarn supplier just on the outskirts of the town.

Of course I had to go and check out the new Hobbycraft last Thursday. It's wonderful (apart from no tatting supplies) to have such a resource so close to home. I wandered around and found some boxes which I thought might be 'just right' for my sewing stuff. Mine is around forty years old and a bit small for what I try to put in it. So I found what looked fine to me and took one out of it's polythene sleeve, opened it and decided that perhaps I didn't really 'need' a new one and this was a bit 'flimsy' too. I carefully put it back in the sleeve and popped it on the display. Just as I was turning round to leave the whole display fell down!!!

Now it made quite the clattering noise!! What you might call an embarrassingly  LOUD clattering noise which went on forever. Finally I found I couldn't move as the boxes were literally all around me. Two assistants came and sorted it out (they decided to take them all out of the sleeves) while I discretely took a photo. Hope I'm not barred in future from Hobbycraft.

Oops! 😂
A friend of mine has just taken over a sewing goods shop in my city, just a walking distance for me, she still doesn't have tatting supplies but I keep all my fingers crossed (I taught her how to tat 😜)!

Tell her that your friend Jane says she MUST stock tatting supplies. Shuttles and thread only!!!

Not a good start, hopefully your relationship with the shop can only go up from here! You'll have to persuade them to stock tatting supplies too.

I almost did that at Barnes and Noble bookstore. I was looking at books on the bottom shelf and pulled myself up with a shelf. Almost turned over the entire row of books.
Once they figure out who you are and your status in the tatting world, you will be most welcome. Did they have any tatting supplies? Perhaps you should gently guide them.

I am sure that they will recognize your supremecy and follow your instructions to add tatting supplies to their inventory.

Hmmm... Watch your pennies!! Hobbycraft eats pennies!!

It’s only a small Hobbycraft, Jane so doubt they’ll have tatting supplies but I’ll keep asking - IF I’m allowed back in!!!
Oh, Tim, how embarrassing for you too!!! Books would’ve been dangerous falling over!!
I’ll nudge them, Ladytats and get friends to ask too±±
OWCH, Pigmini. I hope not!!!

I go to my quilt shop and get thread for tatting if people don't mind the 80 and 100 size and I do this when desperate and can't wait for a shipment.

I have to admit this gave me quite a chuckle, especially the way you comically described it! Nothing like drawing attention to yourself - especially with all the 'endless' clatter. Sorry for your predicament, but it's a scene the old movies relied on for guaranteed laughs! :) Thank goodness they weren't dishes or ceramic figurines! And at least no one got hurt! Tim's book story, on the other hand was scary!

Look on the positive side: lasting relationships can develop from the oddest introductions. :-)

Very pretty boxes. Never can have too many of them for tatting supplies.
