Making a start on the winter coat

In the end after lots of thought and angst I decided on oblongs/rectangles.  I thought this would be easy but it wasn't that easy in the end!!!!  

I sewed two oblongs together and then another pair which I put 'sideways on' against the first one.  I'll show  you.

In the pictures below you can see that I started three 'parts' - a back and two sides.  This proved to be a 'good idea' until I started putting them together.
