Not tatting at all but a slight diversion!!!!
Here are a couple of photos too. They came up to within a foot of my feet each evening. The wet marks are made by their noses as they were eating the peanuts we put out for them.
Badgers don't have very good eyesight or hearing. They do rely on their sense of smell and as I was sitting just inside the cottage they couldn't smell me. In the short movie clip you can see and hear that we have lights on both inside and outside in the courtyard and the television can be heard too.
SUCH a privilege to be 'up close and personal' to these animals who hurt nobody.

Very exciting - I had to call John to come and see your badgers, he loves them too! He once came face to face with one on a walk in Wiltshire and has never forgotten it.
Oooo - the Stooges love the badgers!!
Hi Jane, I haven't been able to keep up with blogs much this summer, I'm missing a lot it seems. I finally got to tat a little bit the last two nights. Yeah!!
Love the badgers, the video was very cool, but even cooler that you were right there to see him.
I've never actually seen a badger. Isn't it wonderful to be able to interact with nature safely?
What a fabulous creature. Lucky you!
Fox : )
Great pictures, oh I bet you know who was in his element!
How cute!!!! I was going to keep that to myself, but, when YouTube linked the following video at the end of yours, I had to share it! LOL

Wow, lucky you! I've never seen one in the wild. Wonderful!
you are very lucky to see them and be able to take photos, we have an one visiting our garden somethimes and I have tried to get his photo with no luck. well done on such lovely photos. Margaret
Seeing is believing. Badgers in fairy tails are always benigne, I've never had a 'close encounter' with a badger. My travels have revealed only rattle snakes, sidewinders, tarantulas, Javalina (peccary-type animal in SW) and lizards. Not to mention the deer (which are agressive!), and bear (to be avoided here) and cougar (also to be avoided). I HAVE encountered lovely little bunnies (not jackrabbits) and turtles that seemed friendly enough.
In "the Colony" the badgers are evil little dudes; at least where I and DH grew up in the 'wilds'. Your's must be much more civilized; perhaps at Oxford or Cambridge. LOL
Seriously, THANK YOU for sharing...

Aw... So cute! I would love to have one as a pet, but that's a no-no and anyway there are no badgers here, only a couple in a zoo. Wouldn't it be a cute addition to tatted animals? *wink*
i also enjoyed the isle of wight this last fortnight. missed you at the bead shop.my husband would only let me look throw the window as he knows i'll be there all day otherwise. we found red squirrels at alvastan nature reserve.they also enjoyed the peanuts and monkey nuts.i did a small amount of tatting but was not happy with the colours i had choosen so i'm going to start again.where were the badgers as i'm going back in two years.
