First of all - Day 6 will be out tomorrow morning!!!
Now I can't remember ever working a project in size 10 thread. I've always used 20 as it's what I first used as a kid. When Sue Anna generously sent me the last present of HDT there were a few skeins of 10 in the bag.
So I thought it would be an idea to try it out. I'd got the ball of off white which has been lurking in my cupboard for more years than I care to admit so the Chicken Wing Doily called out to me to that it needed an outing.
What surprised me was that although it didn't look so good to my eyes while I was working it - one quick blast from the iron made it look really good. I'll certainly be giving size 10 a whirl again another time!!!

Fabulous! Really striking,
Thicker threads do have their place - doilies have more body, and are definitely more practical in terms of protecting a table, This one is very nice.
Hmmm.... I can see that I shall just HAVE to get some threads in 10 varieds!!! However Miss.... I thought the doiley had an outer edge and that that pattern was the coaster..... VBG
Each of these doilies looks prettier & prettier !
Jane, could you share the size of this doily ? I have just bought 5 balls if variegated thread, hoping it was size 20 or 40, but turned out to be a size 10 !!! Seeing your doily, makes me want to make one as well (or a set).
Thanks :-)
I like the way it turned out! Is it much larger than the ones you've tatted in size 20?
It's 5", Muskaan. Just found it and measured it!!!
I'll be measuring them all in due course, Diane. The 10 is 5" but not sure of t'others. Will compare and do a blog post soooooooon.
That is so beautiful!!! :)
I like the colors. Very pretty.
I think the same coaster in 20 is 3 - 3.5 inches. Just thinking about the one I made a few weeks ago!!
Beautiful thread, which makes this very appealing in the larger size! The white makes it pop!
