Some of my patterns

28 January 2016

Well, that's better!!

First of all - today's the day for day 9. Here's the link.

Yesterday as it was a quiet day for the TIAS I had a great BIG tidy up. I'd noticed that on my dashboard the number of followers of my blog had dropped quite a lot so that made the old git stop and think. Ah, maybe I need to do something about all the blogs I follow.

I believe there's a limit of around 300 that you're allowed to follow on the dashboard so I decided to have a look at those I've got there. Now these are not the list that you see on the front of my blog but those that are hidden away. So I had a grand tidy up and took off all those that hadn't been updated in a year or more. This means that now I've got room to follow more active blogs so am open to suggestions from those who have got blogs but which I probably haven't got on my 'secret' list!!!!

So, there's your 'homework'!!! Send me your link and I'll see if I've got you on my list and if not - I'll add you. Keeps me busy blog hopping which is part of my relaxation!!

  1. Oh, I'm relieved to read this because my number of followers has decreased too. Perhaps someone else has been doing a tidy up of some sort?

    1. Hate to say this but I'm pleased to hear that, Maureen. I thought I'd got so BORING that people had given up on me!!!! I've not been blogging here so much lately but have other things to do!!!!!

  2. Maybe I should do the same thing. I don't comment often, but I do not find your posts boring. I see my latest post in your blog roll, so I'm assuming I'm still on your list. :-)

    1. Oh, you DAFT MOO. Of COURSE you're still on my public list. It's the private one on the dashboard that seems to be the 'problem' with others too. I used to have 550 followers but it's shrinking rapidly. Not that it really matters but it makes an old git think she's doing something wrong.

  3. Wow I thought I was getting to my limit but 300 sounds good to me!

  4. I know you've commented on my blog. I'm "chuffed" as you would say. Or the very talented alto in a choir I sang with. I had hoped to continue the momentum of the Big Move to help get things organised and be more efficient. Alas not to be. It's too easy to just sit back and enjoy the wonderful area and house! Thank you for posting, reading, commenting, designing, and well, being you!

  5. My followers went down suddenly as well. I think that blogger itself must be cleaning house. I probably wouldn't have noticed if you haven't mentioned it though.

  6. I've been losing followers as well. From a quick search I found that there is some kind of cleanup going on. Google is no longer allowing accounts such as Yahoo, Twitter, etc to follow blogs. They are removing all followers who aren't using a Google account. Here's a link to a forum discussion:

    1. Oh, thanks for that, Robin. I'm glad it's not something I said!!! Still eternally grateful to have a blog where I can say what I like and just 'be myself'!!!

  7. It has happened to me too in the last week, my followers have also dropped meant to mention it on one of our chats Jane. However, it seems a good idea to join in with this conversation instead. Thanks Robin for the explanation

I have never signed up as a 'follower' - instead, I have quite a list of blogs bookmarked, and I check them ...often, if not daily. It can't 'drop' me, because it doesn't know I'm there. :-) For once, my way of doing things works to my (our?) advantage.

    1. I'm sure that's what others do too. Watching the number of 'followers' in the dashboard isn't an indication anyway of who is actually visiting the blog - it's just a bit of reassurance that you're on the right track saying things that people want to read. I'd NEVER give up my blog as it keeps me motivated and stores the pictures that I regularly 'lose' on the computer!!! Facebook is a place I really find too 'busy'. I love just blog hopping when I want to and have time. Facebook just seems to be full of things and I lose track there!!!
