Carry along tatting

Further progress has been made with my carry along tatting - BUT.

There's a BIG BUT with this now. It's working out really well and I loved the idea of the mix of greens when I started but now I've fallen out with it totally!!!  There's nothing wrong with my choice of colours but I've definitely fallen out with them.

Not sure why except that's just ME!!!

So, what I'm going to do is finish off this round, stick it under the iron and pack it in my suitcase. If anybody wants it at Palmetto they're more than welcome to it. No charge as it will save something from going 'in the box'!!!

The first person to ask for it will get it and if nobody wants it then I'll ............ Well, suggestions always welcome.

Now my problem is - what shall I take as my travel tatting. Maybe the same pattern (thank you, Dora Young) but in another colour!!!

What a shame, but it's good luck for one person! Couldn't you add another round make it bigger? Bright blue or pink would go with the greens.

I love this pattern. Sorry I won’t be at Palmetto to mug you at the door. I’m wondering how long does it take you to tat one motif.

You could add some other colours to this one, but I guess you've already considered that!

Someone is going to be extremely lucky! It won't be me. Palmetto is not in my near future. I hope you have a wonderful time!

I think I would add a contrasting color as a border connecting them. That would complicate things though. What size thread? Maybe we can make it a group project at Tat Days? Oh, and Dibs2.

If a border was put round each one that would destroy the swirl effect, picotsnkeys. I was explaining to somebody else about the swirl effect earlier and showed them this link https://janeeborall.blogspot.com/2016/10/dora-young-finished.html
This was worked in a size 20 thread. I think there’ll be enough going on at Tat Days so another project MIGHT be one too many!!!

Maybe you need to to pass it someone at Tat Days and they can add toit and then pass it to someone... Keep a list it with it as to who all works on it and then auction it off at a future Tat Days (hopefully one I am at). It might make a great fund raiser for Tat Days.

That’s a good idea, TetterDel. They’d have to have the pattern book but worth a thought.

I'm sure someone will enjoy it just the way it is.

What pattern book is this? How far can you go with that swirl effect still working? Could it become a hat top? (Not that piece in particular (gone off to a new home by now) but the swirled circle in general.) Can it be made big enough to serve as a hat top?

G-31 - the pattern is from Dora Young's All New Knotless Tatting book. Recently re-printed and easily found online. You can go much further with that design and I think I'm just going to start another round although if you follow my blog you'll see more about it soon.
It could certainly be used as a hat top and that green one got 'claimed' at Tat Days so I'm doing another - just because I love working that pattern!!!!
