Then temptation took over

I do like a challenge and there aren’t many left in tatting although there are things that don’t appeal to me so I’ve never taken up.
As you know I go to a knitting group on a Friday morning and I've learned SUCH a lot from the girls there.

One of them is knitting a top in the finest yarn I've ever seen and she's doing it from the top down.  This has been fascinating me for weeks so I decided to find a pattern.

No, I'm not using the finest yarn - I'm using what you can see below.  Bring on the challenge!!!

You will have to play around with needle sizes, or knit a size smaller than usual, because the pattern uses 5 ply and Crofter is 8 ply.I think it’s going to be beautiful, and a very useful design.

I've been meaning to knit a top down sweater for years! Maybe I'll get around to it some day. I love the yarn you've chosen!

I think 8 ply is the same as our English double knitting, Maureen. The experts at my knitting group advised me that by using a size smaller needle and the smallest size it should work out just fine. Time will tell!!!!

I’d never thought of the idea until I saw somebody at my knitting group doing a top like that. You can join me, Diane!!!!

I’ve knitted a sweater top down, worked well. I look forward to seeing how you go.
