A butterfly!

I know that everybody's thinking and tatting for the holiday season but you know me - I have to be a tad different!!!!  I have a problem.  A BIG problem.  A HUGE problem.  A MEGGA problem.  I'll tell you what it is!!!

When I have an idea and have fiddled and messed with it and it finally becomes a pattern I have NO patience.  I can't keep it for months or weeks or even days!!!  I HAVE to share it.  If I could keep it then I'd be able to launch things like this at the right time of the year but ...........

The reason for altering the Funny Face and making this little butterfly (into bookmarks) is for a reason which I'll share in late January.  A very good reason, I think!!!

I did share the pattern with Sally and (like me!) she can't stop making them so in order to stop us both from our addiction I've added the pattern to my site this morning.

The picture below shows the pattern worked with a pearl tatted 'tail' instead of the lock chain on the written pattern.  I used this method (the lazy way!!) to make this.

This is one of the best butterflies I've seen. It's simple to do, yet looks intricate, and it's actually shaped like a butterfly. I love the colors, too. Is that Lizbeth Caribbean?

Hmmm,, let me see....a bookmark usually means a book, and a tatted bookmark, therefore, must mean, Jane, that you have inside knowledge of a new tatting book!
That is my educated guess anyway, and I love the butterfly.

Oh Jane, if ONLY your little butterfly could bring spring with it! I've had two days of cold and I'm ready to skip to March (yeah, I'm lucky and usually get an early spring which is why I'm such a winter wienie).

It REALLY is a PRETTY butterfly and has a great shape! Love the bead placement and the tail is perfect for a bookmark. Thanks for sharing the pattern!

Jane, what do you mean that this butterfly bookmark is not Christmasy? It's a perfect gift!!
Very cool! The instructions are easy to follow, great diagrams. Now to find some time to tat it!
Thank you!!!

I love to tat butterflies and I love tatting bookmarks. So this will become a favorite I'm sure. I just started making the lock chain after you had it in some of your patterns. I like how that looks for the tail. But I also like how pearl tatting looks too. So I will do both. Thank you for the new pattern!! HUGS!!

Ooh, I love it! I just saw this last night on Georgia's site and wanted it immediately. I just love how the beads make the top of the large wings. Thanks, Jane.

Love the butterfly. Have not had time to tat, just been removing snow and now we have at least 15 inches of that nice white stuff. Wind is blowing and it is drifting. Just winter in Iowa.

It's a lovely pattern for a bookmark! I like the butterfly a lot. What does it matter what time of yyear it is? People have got to make and give Christmas gifts and not ever Christmas gift that is given has a Christmas theme about it! It's perfect to share it this time of year!

Beautiful. Like Carol, I like butterflies too. So much that I will have to blog about. I'll have to try the pattern out. Happy Tatting!
