Moving on to the next bit!

I guess you don't really want to hear about my fabulous holiday!!!  Nobody wants to hear about the July 4th celebrations (several), going blueberry picking or going to the Monster Jam and the Pit Party beforehand.

Nobody wants to hear about the stupendous week on Hilton Head Island where the sea was as warm (if not warmer!) than a hot bath at home.  Where the sun shone every day and it was HOT, HOT, HOT.  Or about the beach which was miles and miles of glorious sand.  So, you're not going to!!!!  Well, maybe just one picture and that's it!!!  A picture of the small wooden bridge over the dunes to the beach which was 200 yards from the house we were staying in.  It was taken as the sun set.
What you really want to know about (I think) is what I was making and doing while I was there!!!  I can't sit and do nothing so there's no point in trying!!!

I made progress on the diamond mat!!!  Here's the first picture!!!  I think I'd just started on this final round when I left you.  I took the two 'greens' to the USA with me with sufficient (so I thought!) wound off the large balls onto ezybobs.  I worked out that there was enough on each full shuttle bobbin to make four diamonds and the rest was 'guess work'!!!!  This is a picture taken on the 'holiday in the holiday' and  you can see (just) that I'm almost there!!!!  I'll tell you more in a few days!

This mat gets more and more stunning with every diamond. How many carats is it now?

Are you sure you don't want to share a tiny bit of your holiday in a holiday? That bridge photo beckons...come...come...feel the warm sand under your feet.

The mat is looking gorgeous, and of course we want to hear more of the holiday and whats the over side of the bridge?

I absolutely LOVE the way you've designed the color effects here, with each 'star' being surrounded by pink, and the mat outlined in green! This is so much larger than I imagined, in the photos showing you working on it.

I'm so glad you had your holiday in a holiday and had a great time with your family! And being able to concentrate on your mat had to have been very satisfying. When I get to tat by a lake I feel SO relaxed, especially when sailboats are in view. Although we've been up and down the East Coast, we've never visited Hilton Head, but would sure like to go there!

This is stunning! Is there any way you'd sell copies of the pattern--is it at all available? I've never seen anything like it--so beautiful.

You've been missed Jane--it's wonderful to have you back! And yes, we want to hear about Hilton Head and the rest of your vacation. I moved down here to Key West a year ago, and I'd love to know your impressions of this side of the coast...

Oh, Isdihara and Margaret I'm afraid I'm not going to tell you anymore about the holiday!!! This blog is purely tatting orientated and I don't speak much about personal stuff in case I bore people to death!!!
I'll be blogging more details about the diamonds later this week.

Oh, Keeley the pattern is on my site in two parts. Here's one for the diamonds http://www.e.n.e.btinternet.co.uk/Diamond.pdf and here's another for the triangle and a square http://www.e.n.e.btinternet.co.uk/Squaretriangle.pdf
As I said a few minutes ago this blog is really just for tatting with very little personal stuff getting on here!!! Now if you want to know more about the holiday please ring me!!!!!!!!!!! That was an expensive joke!!!!!

The main thing is you had a great holiday Jane and were lucky enough to see some beautiful parts of the USA and meet some friendly tatters aswell!
Also that is a very well travelled mat!
I for one was glad to see you back even though it was just after you arrived and you were obviously very tired.
