Good morning on another miserable day here in England!!! I know we probably needed a bit of rain but this is just a bit toooooooo much.
Anyway, here's the link for day 8 of the Tat It And See.
Before I leave you today I want to tell you the very, very bad news that I had last Friday. I was just checking my emails last thing before going to sleep and I had one from my good friend Crazy mom tats who lives in Atlanta and with whom Sally and I stayed in September 2012. This was her exact message:-
The subject was 'Our House'

Burned down this morning, gone by 10 am. No one was inside, but house is total loss and we lost all pets.
We are ok. Have check in hand from insurance, and are staying at Hampton Inn locally. Now to find a place to stay and much shopping to replace things.
I'm a tough cookie, I'll be ok."
I managed to FaceTime with her on Saturday and when I got an email from her on Sunday (saying could I blog all this) she'd managed to get shuttles and thread. Moral? You can't stop a tatter from tatting.
Can you imagine losing everything, but everything you own within the space of a few hours? All the pets (we met most of them) and - well it's haunted me ever since and Friday night I just didn't sleep for worrying.
Thankfully the two boys living at home still are fine and Crazy Mom (who isn't the LEAST bit crazy) is going to get through it all too.

This is very distressing news to read - I'm so upset to learn about the fire, and since I have enjoyed reading about Crazy Mom's cats so much over the years, I grieve for them too.
If there is someone who could volunteer an address, perhaps the tatting community could at least replace some of the lost threads, shuttles and books.
Well at the moment she doesn't have an address except a hotel they're in. Hopefully within a week or two they'll find somewhere to rent until the house has been re-built. Then we can start blitzing her with gifts. Will keep the community informed via this blog and with her permission.
I'm sad for her too! To lose everything must be totally devastating!
Sorry to hear this. Terrible.
Thanks Jane for letting us know. Sorry to hear. I live not that far from her. Have contacted her so hopefully I can help in some way.
Aww... :-(
I am so sorry! My husband's family went through this when he was 12 and it is awful. Please give her my thoughts and prayers, especially in the loss of their pets.
:( How awful, yes, please keep us informed.
terrible thing to happen to her! I'd be devastated. :( (hug for her)
What a dreadful thing to happen to Sandra and her family, still hard to believe that a house that we once stayed in is no longer there. Sweet memories of the cats too.
Dear Crazy Mom,-I hope you are reading these comments-please know that our hearts go out to you, please let us know what we can do.
Jane, thank you for letting us know, you are a good friend!
So sad. I will keep them in my prayers.
Dera Crazy mom tats, you just lived through the most terrible nightmare. Thank God that you are alive, but I am very sorry for the loss of your pets.
I am happy to hear that you are taken care of and that you tat again. I'll leave a list with Jane of tatting books, yarn and shuttle that I can give you . I'll let her choose and I'll send it . To you or to her. Hugs to the boys.
So sorry for her loses, some things are not replaceable but they have memories. Now they can build their lives again with new things. May God bless them with showers of blessings!
I am absolutely stunned to read this. In fact I had to read it a few times before I could fully comprehend it. Please keep us informed and let us know if there's anything we can do. It has to be quite devastating.
