Another look at an old pattern. This one, in fact.
I'm currently re-writing the pattern so will upload and replace the original one when it's done.
This is a design that I did way back in the dark ages or Tudor times or somewhere equally dim and distant!!! Not sure when as it isn't dated.
I was really proud of this one when I did it as it was revolutionary at the time - well, I think it was. I chose these colours but they don't really do it justice. I'll work another up in better colours to show you.
The 'cleverness' lies in the fact that the coloured thread is a size 80 (Lizbeth pink cocoa) and the plain is size 20. It took some working out and it does look better in real life as the textures give the motif depth. Well I think that's the right word for the effect.

I like the colors of this piece but I look forward to the new pattern.
Interesting motif! In the mid-80s, I think, the Anna magazine had tatted designs that used different thicknesses of thread in the same motif. Just for interest I mention this!
That's interesting, Jane. I used to have Anna Burda for the tatting (in May issue) so that may have been where the idea came from. Don't remember but it could've been!!!
I loved this pattern because it used two different size threads and made loads of them in the dark ages that you are talking about! Also used the middle bit for the stars I embellished recently.
just loverly! ( not sure that is spelled correctly hehe)
It's very pretty pattern. I like it, and these colours!
I never would have thought of putting size 20 and 80 together. I do like the look!
The dark ages? Was that before the Beatles?
Ooooh, after the Beatles, Tally Tatty!!!!!
