New EXCLUSIVE tatting club

Today I'm proud to announce a new and EXCLUSIVE tatting club. It will be named the 'Tatted Mouse Club'.  There is a tab at the top of this page (when I can get it to show properly) where the member's names will appear.  Here's the link.

To join you must submit one tatted mouse from the Houtz brother's book!!!

For those who have only got as far as doing baubles/bobbles from the book there will be a 'junior membership' which will then be upgraded to full membership once a mouse is submitted!

Why? Well cause I'm bonkers and don't see why others of a similar nature shouldn't join me in my 'bonkersness'!!!!

You are a rational, intelligent and kind person, Jane! I have Always wondered why in tatting competitions there are no entries for 'beginners', medium and advanced tatters,.although the requirement for those skills are advertised.
Thank you, now I have the courage to at least try to make a bauble.
But,.. can those who cannot even make a bauble, NAME your mice? I would like to call your grey one Snooree? please?

oh for fun. I a copy of the hand written and drawn directions for baubles that Bobbi Demmer did for the Houtz Bros many years ago. I have used them for heads on 3D tatted Angels and other items, but I do not have the directions for the Mouse.

Will be taking the bauble class at Tat Days (something new I will be learning). Probably will get the book there also. Until then, I will be a silent observer and maybe I will be encouraged to make a submission later this year.

Hello Jane :-)
Will this Cattail/Pond Reed count as a bauble ? http://www.craftree.com/projects/203 ... It is my very own pattern, without any tutorial. I still need to tweak it a bit & then write it all out.
I was inspired when you first put up a few baubles while reviewing the Houtz brothers' books. The images seemed easy enough - chains joined at certain points - so I thought I'd give it a go....

Sadly, no, Muskaan - the chains aren't joined in a bauble. Yours is not a bauble in the 'true' sense of the word!!! The bauble technique requires four ribs and the chains sit on top of each other rather than the way you've done them which is the 'wrong way' with this technique. I did a page on bauble tatting for the originator of the idea (Bobbie Demmer) some years ago and that can be found here http://www.janeeborall.freeservers.com/baublebobbie.pdf
However, I do strongly suggest you buy the book too as the Houtz brothers have taken the concept a whole lot further and you'd need to check over copyright if you're designing new ones too. Good luck with figuring it out!!!
