Coasters or small doilies?

I'm not quite sure what to call these!!! I know I've made lots of them and have now packaged them ready for the October craft fair that I'm taking part in.

The pattern is in Rosemarie Peel's book and I've shown these many times before!!! Here's a link to more information on where to find the pattern.

I met the other 'crafters' on Sunday as we had a planning meeting.  They're all really lovely people so I'm sure we'll all have fun even if we don't sell a lot of things!

How about coaster/small doily? Some won't want to use them as coasters because they're so pretty, and others won't want doilies because they're old fashioned. I read a comment last week where one lady said she doesn't use doilies because they're dust collectors. I kind of like the lace patterns that are left behind by the doilies when I do take time to dust! ;-)

What’s in a name? Beautifully presented, I hope they’ll all sell.

I'm very happy to see your colorful 'Rachel' doilies having an opportunity to get 'out and about' where they will be viewed by many visitors! I hope you'll be demonstrating tatting at the fair. I, for one, would love to watch you tat. You must be lightning fast. You should use this fair as an opportunity to show the range of your work. Will you be selling some beaded broaches, bracelets or pendants?

You could also have a sample exhibit of your animals 'for display only'. I'm sure many people have little idea of the versatility of tatting, not to mention your incredible talent for creating them.

One use of doilies that not many are aware of is simply 'sandwiching' them between two clear plates (plastic or real glass) and using the plates for cookies, cake slices or 'tea sandwiches' or candles or flower arrangements. That way the doilies don't get soiled and they at least get out of their boxes for a day! And, as always, doilies can be framed for hanging on a wall, as works of art, which is what they are!

I will be taking turns with my other new friends sitting in the sale room. I'll certainly be tatting!!! I'm slide going to do a sign telling people what tatting is and how long it takes to make an item. I'm also going to do small leaflets for people to take which will explain what I have to offer - with my web address and email address on their too.
That's a good idea for doilies. I must try that.
