Finally I’ve had a space of time to make a llama. I’m teaching this pattern at Palmetto and had lost the last one I made!! It’ll turn up again one day but meantime I needed a sample to show the class what we’re aiming to make!!!
If the picture looks a bit odd it’s because the thread is a variegated Lizbeth one and is just right for making animals as they do vary in their colouring.
One thing I like about this design is that there are NO ENDS to sew in at the end. Beginning ones are tatted over and the ends are - well, just left and frayed.
Bit like my nerves sometimes when faced with a classroom of tatters!!!

I might have to make one for my eldest granddaughter who spent several months in South America last year. She loves them, but I would need to add a blanket and a hat. Lucky students in your classroom!

When my son was little, I used to read him the Llama, Llama books. One of my favorite lines is from one of the books - "No more llama drama, little llama." I'm glad your llama didn't have too much drama.
I have that color Lizbeth thread. I would have never thought of using it for an animal but it really looks great. I made a snowflake with it and it was very pretty. It has a very subtle color shifts.
I agree, the subtle variegation in the thread is great for an animal. Do you remember which Lizbeth it is? Good luck with the tatting class :)
Buff City Tatter - I love subtle changes of colour in my threads and now avoid the harsher ones with sudden changes.
I don’t think I’ve heard of the Llama, Llama books but they sound lovely.

Adorable llama! Should be a popular class! I love that black and cream pendant, too. I always think your two-color chains look like beads! Black, white and gold were our school colors, so I guess I'm partial to them!
