That's right I have it on good authority from 2 1/2 year old Abbi that these birds are called peapocks!!!
The pattern is from Pam Palmer's 'Tatting Treats' and I first made this little critter shortly after buying the book directly from Pam in 1994 (or maybe 5). That time I worked the tail as the pattern stated but this time I used exactly the same stitch count but worked it without any cut and ties - well, until the end of course!!!
The tail thread is from Tatskool and is called Coral Reef. The body is worked in a Coats thread.
The guy underneath is a crocodile. OK, I know the original was an alligator by Kate Plummer but Nathan wanted a crocodile. I took liberties with this pattern as I was tired and so changed the bottom part. My apologies to Kate who's work I SO admire. If you're out there, Kate, I'd love to find you.

Good for you! I DO love split rings as I hate to deal with lots of ends. Both your peapock and your croc look great. I'm sure you have made two children very happy.

Coincidently, I was looking through some old I.O.L.I. Bulletins last night and the last reference I can find to Kate Plummer is 1992 when she was tatting editor. Bobbie Demmer became tatting editor in the next issue but I haven't found any reference as to why Kate no longer was. All my research over the years keeps leading to deadends, like she simply disappeared!

I realize that these two lovely creatures are not your originals...but I read that you did adjust on-the-fly and I have indeed snooped through your original pattern pages...I barely managed to pry my eyes off them...I just shake my head at the amazing talent out there...

I heard from Nathan that the croc and peapock arrived safely via post. So, Isdihara they will not get onto the jacket!!!
It must be fun tatting animals for children, my great niece and nephew must think you are very clever making the creatures come to life like that. Leanna talent does run in the family!!!!!!

Hey, BeadweaverDeb - there won't be another book as there hasn't even been a first one!!!!!! The peacock is Pam Palmer's and the alligator/crocodile is Kate Plummers so they ain't my patterns to share - though I wish they were!!!!
