156 down - how many to go?

OK, this is where I got to on the original mat before 'calling it a day'.  There are now 156 diamonds here.
This time, however, I've decided to 'fill in the spaces' between the pointy bits so will be trudging along with those.

Meantime here are two pictures of 'where we're at' so to speak!!!!

  1. I remember sitting across the table at Palmettos in SC when you were working on the first one. I think it was the first time I met you and I'm not sure I did anything but sit down across from you with several other ladies. You were just tat, tat, tatting away and talking the whole time. LOL!

  3. Very nice! I admire your dedication - I'm more of an instant gratification type of person, so I lose interest in patterns that take too long. :-P Maybe I'll try making something from your diamonds and see how far I get!

  5. You're much braver than I am to contemplate such a project! I recently posted about joining triangles together in a similar way (from an idea by Sue from Michigan) on a VERY small project (half of one of your six-pointed stars!), which became a tulip! Because of coincidence, with the thread I was using I was able to control the colors in the tulip. Although the 'fabric' could get bigger and bigger, I quit after 9 little triangles and framed the tulip!

Your two 'ancient' doilies are also works of art. And yes, I remember the photocopy machines! On my first secretarial job in 1962, we had to have an authorized 'request' to take to the gal who was the only one allowed to operate the photocopy machine. The b/w copies s-l-o-w-l-y came out of the machine, and apparently cost $1 a copy!!!! It had to be a really important document!

Also, CONGRATULATIONS on your well-deserved award for your blood donations. That's a wonderful achievement!!

  7. This has been stunning from the start - ever since I suddenly "saw" my Chinese pot sitting on it!
All those diamonds - maybe you could work out exactly how many double stitches have gone into the project?

  9. Amazing work, Jane!

So, where you asking a real question there? By my count, if you make one round more, and finish it just like this one, you need exactly 156 diamonds more! (18 stars and 48 filler diamonds)

I admire tatters who tackle such long term projects. And I think your use of colour here is superb!

  10. re-reading your post, it sounds like you just want to add the filling diamonds so there are no pointy bits - that's only 30 filling diamonds to go, then! :-D

  11. Even 30 seems a lot at times, creativasuculencia!!!!! I'm still plodding away at them!!!
