Swan and Turtle

Good Monday morning and another dreary, cold day here in my neck of the woods!!!

Today's offering is a swan and a turtle.  Not sure if swans and turtles really go together but it's a case of whatever fits on a page!!!  My excuse is that they both live in/on/near water.  Will that do as an excuse?

Here they are in all their 'glory'!!!

I love the turtle - but swans, quite frankly, frighten me.

Makes me think of finding things in the supermarket - I looked for kettle descaler in the cleaning section, but found it in the kettle section. Both spots have logic, so yeah, you use any logic you like, it might not be the same as someone else's! I'm sure we'll find the doodles we're looking for. Great job.

Works for me! These might be my favorite two doodles!

They are cute, Jane. The swan realy behaves and looks like a swan. I see him also with his wings out and upstanding. The turtle is also cute, nice details on her frontlegs ;-))

Ooh I love the turtle!

I've made two turtles tonight! The first one had eyes that were too big for its face (thought it needed bigger than seed bead, but no). The second one is just perfect. I'm planning on making earrings for presents for my mom, sister, and sister in law to wear at the beach!

I love turtles! I wish I could find thread that matched my Ozzy's coloring! Then, however, I'd probably just sit and tat nothing but turtles for a month! LOL.

I think it's quite appropriate for you to post a turtle this week. May 23rd is International/ World Turtle day! :-D

(Swan is cute too... but never will a turtle be as cute as a turtle, in my opinion...)

Hi Jane! Its me. Somebody posted the turtle on FaceBook and hey, I recognized the thread.

Well spotted, Zarina. I keep your HDT for 'very best' as the colours are so great.

I love the design for the turtle and your very small SCMR butterfly. Have you thought of any other animals or doodles that might work with a similar construction and about a yard of thread? These are my favorites for that "last little bit" on the shuttle.

Hi Susie - if you look on my doodles page you'll find a few more little things that can be made with the last bit of thread!!! Here's the link.

It looks like the cat and the owl are the same "structure" of a SCMR that throws off legs/wings and head and ends with the tail. Can you think of a BLUE animal or anything like that with a similar structure? (I've been working on peacock feathers for practice, and I keep having bits of blue on the shuttle!)

How about the octopus or the hummingbird? I do have a peacock doodle but that's not available until after Tat Days. I'll be teaching it there. Blue animals? Only butterflies, birds and the octopus. I'll keep thinking, though and if in the meantime you come up with a suggestion I'll see what I can do for you!!

Susie said...

Jane, you are awesome! I'll take a look at the octopus and any birds.

http://ambitatterous.blogspot.com/2011/02/tatting-tea-tuesday-motif-21-red-bird.html has a "cardinal," but the body looks too long to me. And there aren't any feet! I'll let you know if I manage to adapt this to look like a bluebird. I also think that the turtle fins might look good bigger as wings...still working on that too.

There's a hummingbird on the doodle page - I thought you were looking for doodles.

Susie said...

I was looking for doodles...or anything else that can be made with about 1 meter of thread...I always seem to have just that much at the end of my recent projects! I have quite a collection of butterflies and small flowers (and now turtles) as well as a few hummingbirds. I hope your pop-a-bobbin sale goes wonderfully well tomorrow. I posted about it on intatters, and I know a few folks who said they "wanted one!!!"

Jane Eborall said...

Well those are the only doodles I've got at the moment on my doodle page!!! More next year after Tat Days. The shuttles usually fly out of the shop so I hope those who want them get there early!!! MUST remember to go to intatters tomorrow!
